Creating Safe Spaces For Black Men and Women to Disclose

Learning Objectives

  • Learn strategies for increasing the involvement of Black men who have sex with men (MSM) and heterosexual men in creating safe spaces for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) to share their status
  • Identify how social, educational, and cultural issues make it unsafe for Black women living with HIV/AIDS to disclose their status
  • Recognize the importance of decreasing stigma related to HIV/AIDS in Black communities
  • Learn methods of assessing one's readiness to safely disclose their HIV status
  • Strategize how environments can be created where Black men and women feel safe with sharing their positive HIV status
  • Increase capacity to implement programs and events related to making safe spaces for Black men and women to disclose their HIV status
