The Test 1 Million (T1M) movement is a call-to action for one million Black Americans to get tested for HIV by 2010.
T1M is the Black AIDS Institute's signature mobilization campaign, in partnership with the Screen Actor's Guild, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and leading Black organizations and institutions. It builds upon the National Black AIDS Mobilization: a call to action to engage all of Black America, from individuals to institutions, in a community-wide effort to end the AIDS epidemic. The Test 1 Million movement is one of awareness, personal responsibility, and collective action.
Below you will find detailed instructions and corresponding forms that have been developed to make your registration process as an official Test 1 Million affiliate an easy one. The Test One Million campaign offers two membership categories: individual and organizational.
REGISTERING AS AN INDIVIDUAL TEST 1 MILLION MEMBER
The following steps will assist you in registering as an official Test 1 Million member.
Step 1: Get tested for HIV at a local clinic, health fair or doctor's office.
Step 2: Complete the Individual Member form and either email the completed form to test1million@blackaids.org or fax the completed form to (888) 832-4318 . Be sure to indicate that you have been tested. There is no need to share your results; we just want to count you as one in a million.
Step 3: After receiving the completed form, we will send you your T1M membership number along with a campaign membership card and other campaign materials.
As a member of the Test 1 Million campaign, we hope that you will spread the word to friends and family about the campaign and urge them to take an HIV test.
REGISTERING AS AN OFFICIAL TEST 1 MILLION ORGANIZATION
The following steps will assist you in registering your organization as an official Test 1 Million organization.
Step 1: A representative from your organization must fully complete and submit the Test 1 Million registration package.
Step 2: Once the Institute has received your completed registration package, we will process it and you will be notified of your Test 1 Million status. Your organization will be assigned an affiliate number, which can be used by your organization to submit material and speaker requests to the Black AIDS Institute. Your organization will also receive an official Test 1 Million Toolkit that will include the finalized signed copy of the memorandum of understanding and other support materials for your local Test 1 Million efforts.
Step 3: As an official Test 1 Million affiliate you will be eligible to request the Institute's support for your events including requests for Test 1 Million co-branded materials and speakers for local events.
